Why do I live where I do….??

I’ve been in Phoenix for just over a week and its been absolutely heavenly!! Sometimes I wonder why I live where I do?? I HATE winter and everything that comes with it. No really! I’m not a skier or snowboarder, and frankly, the only use for snow is to sprinkle a dusting around Christmas time… and even then, I would trade that in for sunshine ANY day.

As much as I’m loving Phoenix, I am learning that that big glowing orb in the sky has it challenges while pregnant. Hello heat rash, hives and dry itchy skin. Ummm, as if being fat, nauseous all the time and winded wasn’t enough?!! Lets add in some more uncomfortable symptoms to top it off. Yay! And whats even worse…??!! I’m STILL white and I’ve already been here for a week!!! What the heck!!?? According to mom I’m still see through (mind you see looks like shes been living here for 2 years). Clearly I inherited dad’s Scottish genes. SPF 45-70 are a girls best friend right now. I really don’t think I’m going to have much of a base tan for this upcoming cruise…

The good news is I FINALLY got the “ok” from my specialist to workout again (after 3.5 months of being a complete sloth!) I’ve been up and out the door walking at 7am every day, along with some approved 2nd trimester workout exercises. I feel GREAT!!! I can only hope this enthusiasm carries with me back home next weekend where the weather isn’t quite as nice…  Only 16 more days!!! I suddenly feel the vacation crunch creeping up. Eeeeek.

Maternity shopping in Phoenix has been a bit of a challenge though. I’m sure mom is sick of driving me around, but who knew shopping for pregnant lady clothes in a city where half of Canada retires would be so hard?!? I think I might have to resort to some online shopping. And since I can no longer squeeze into my regular clothes I need to find something quick!! My biggest question right now is what will fit me for my plane ride home. I kinda “popped” down here… These twins are making me look much more then 3 months pregnant!! I’m carrying two, so that’s normal right?!! All I know is that I cant hide this thing anymore and I’m pretty sure my carb-loaded 1st trimester is only helping accentuate this bump even more! Ooops.

Mom and I are discussing maybe heading to Lake Havasu for a day or two. I REALLY want to go to Antelope Canyon, but with the puppy and cat here, I think that trip will be too hard to manage. And its REALLY hot this week… mid to high 30’s and we are thinking that hiking in the middle of the dessert in 40 degree heat might not be the best for this momma. Maybe another time.. 5 years and counting and I STILL haven’t been there. Maybe one day soon….
