FLIPTHESCRIPT – What does that mean?

This years theme for National Infertility Awareness Week is #FLIPTHESCRIPTto educate people, bring awareness and to change opinions regarding infertility issues.

Did you know that infertility affects 1 in 8 couples?! There is a good chance you already know someone struggling to get pregnant. If you don’t, then you likely have a friend or family suffering in silence.

I was very private while going through my infertility journey. I don’t think any of my family or friends even knew anything until 2 years into our process. And it only came up because we got the dreaded question “So, when are you going to have kids?”. Sometimes it even followed with a “You should get on that, your not getting any younger”….

Okay thank you. I’m aware.

This year marks 4 years from the start of our infertility struggles. It was tough watching friends have their children without any issues, and none of my friends really understood. I got a lot of unwarranted advice too. Just relax, don’t try so hard, it will “just happen” don’t stress so much…

You just just never know the struggle a couple or person is going through. Maybe they are dealing with a recent miscarriage, or this is round 4 of their IVF journey that has been kept very private.

The journey of infertility can be long and emotional. It’s both costly and invasive. It’s extremely stressful and VERY hard on relationships. And what can make this even worse is that a lot of coupes do not have a success story to share in the end.

In light of Canadian Infertility Awareness Week and our recent success, I’m finally comfortable to share our full story. We are not a success story yet, but we finally have a glimmer of hope and that is very exciting for us. ❤️

Our journey so far:

* 4 years of infertility -unbeknownst to me was an undiagnosed issue for many years prior.
* Natural miscarriage at 6 weeks
* Multiple rounds of clomid
* 1 round of IVF that resulted in 0 eggs
*Another natural miscarriage at 7 weeks
* Multiple discussions about adoption or donor options
* Another round of IVF via donor eggs
* 16 eggs retrieved, 2 transferred and 4 frozen.
*High risk twin pregnancy
